
Torrell E. Mills
Overview
Torrell Mills focuses his practice on high-stakes commercial litigation, specializing in appellate matters.
Prior to joining Holwell Shuster & Goldberg, Torrell clerked for the Honorable J. Michelle Childs of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and the Honorable John P. Howard III of the D.C. Court of Appeals, the highest court in the District of Columbia.
Torrell earned his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as an Executive Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and executive board member of the Georgetown Barristers’ Council (Appellate Advocacy Division). Torrell also worked as a research assistant to Professors Michael Seidman, Paul Butler, and Dean Emeritus William Treanor. In addition, Torrell externed for the Honorable Amy Berman Jackson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and advocated on behalf of indigent clients, co-authoring briefs before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit as an appointed student counsel in the Georgetown Appellate Litigation Clinic.
Torrell’s legal career builds on a distinguished background as a U.S. Air Force Intelligence Officer, where he served at the National Security Agency, U.S. Cyber Command, and deployed abroad with Joint Special Operations Command. Following his military service, Torrell worked as a senior policy analyst supporting the Department of Defense at the Pentagon.
