07.28.2023

New York—Holwell Shuster & Goldberg LLP partner Priyanka Timblo has been recognized by Bloomberg Law as a 2023 “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40” honoree. Representing the “best of the future of the legal profession,” each year Bloomberg Law recognizes 40 stellar young lawyers nationwide who have stood out for their client work, leadership roles, and pro bono service.

At just 37 years old, Priyanka has established a name for herself as a leading commercial litigator in high-stakes, national-profile lawsuits, while inspiring and uplifting the next generation of diverse lawyers. Representing clients in commercial litigation and arbitration, she has significant experience handling antitrust and breach of contract disputes on both the plaintiff and defense side.

Her recent trial work includes representing Valassis Communications, a MacAndrews & Forbes company, in a $600 million antitrust jury trial against News Corp. in the Southern District of New York, in which she examined a key fact witness. As first chair in a breach-of-contract JAMS arbitration in 2019 in which she conducted the direct and cross-examination of the main witnesses, Priyanka secured a complete victory for her client. Most recently, as co-lead in a damages inquest, she secured a $70 million win on behalf of investment fund client Melody Business Finance involving loans defaulted on by former hedge fund billionaire Philip Falcone. Priyanka is also co-lead counsel in a breach-of-contract action pending in the Western District of Arkansas against one of the world’s largest retailers, which goes to trial in February 2024.

As a female litigator of Indian descent, Priyanka is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion at HSG and in the broader profession. As a member of HSG’s Recruiting Committee, Priyanka plays a lead role in hiring diverse talent. She has also served on the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and contributes to the firm’s First-Generation Professionals Affinity Group, which brings together members of the firm who, like Priyanka, are the first in their family to enter the legal profession.
